This piece at On Line Opinion is by a father but gives a beautiful summation of what it means to be a mother, and the respect mothers deserve. Well worth reading.
I know myself, that becoming a mother has really changed the way I think about my own mother. I also feel more forgiving of others. A bit motherhood and apple pie (no pun intended), I know, but I really do think it has made me a better person. I look forward to the rest of the journey!
